Haverkamp, Michael

Born 1958 in Gütersloh /Bundesrepublik Deutschland, he studied electrical engineering at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, with a focus on technical and psychological acous-tics and communications engineering.
PhD thesis on physiological influence and perception of vehicle vibration, based on investigations done at the Medical Department of Universität Mainz, Institut for Occupational Health. Beside long term experience in acoustics engineering and teaching – currently in the automotive industry at FORD Engineering Centre Cologne - studies on cross-modal perception, design, the arts and music are important fields of activity.
He is also involved in arts projects and performances of improvised music.
Numerous publications and presentations on sound and vibration engineering, perception, sound design and synaesthesia. His comprehensive approach on multi-sensory design is presented in the book „Synästhetisches Design“, published 2008 (in German language).
